Prologue

"What a good girl," he whispered, loving the color that stained her cheeks. "I’m going to take you now, put your hands over your head and keep them there."

The statement of his intention caused her to shudder but she was more aroused than she thought possible at the demand. She lifted her hands above her head and clasped them tightly together, not entirely sure he had been kidding about his earlier spanking comment.

Nodding his approval, he bent to tease, lick, and bite her throbbing nipples until she was once again writhing under him. He grinned and positioned himself at her slick opening. Looking up, he gave her an order. "Keep your eyes on mine. I want to watch you as I fuck you, don’t close them; I want them open so I can see deep into them as you cum for me."

His explicit words caused her clit to twitch and her entire body to flush. No man had ever spoken to her in this way. No man had ever before given her orders that caused her to blush, but also caused her to wish nothing more than to obey. "Yes, Sir," she whispered, her eyes on his, her bottom lip caught between her teeth, her pulse racing.

His cock jerked at her response and he knew he needed to seat himself before he lost control. "Good girl," he said.

She gave a small shriek and arched as he thrust inside her with the first glorious stroke. He filled her slowly, stretching her wider than she had ever been before. Her eyes fluttered closed with the incredible sensation, until she gave a startled yelp as his hand connected with a sharp slap to her bottom. "Eyes!"

She instantly opened them to see him watching her, somehow managing to hold himself still?as if teaching her that all the pleasure could and would stop if she didn’t remember to obey. Shuddering with the intensity of her response to his order, her skin tingling slightly from that single slap, she gave him a nod.

"Please, oh, please," she begged, lifting her hips as if trying to force him deeper. He thrust forward again and she screamed in lust as he buried himself to the hilt. Her hands came up and grabbed his shoulders but he pulled them away, gathered them in one of his large hands and pushed them back over her head again.

"Naughty," he whispered, leaning down and speaking the word gently against her lips. "You must really want that spanking, young lady." Her eyes were glued to his as he pressed his lips to hers. Her head shook softly from side to side. He kissed her again and said, "You’ll always answer me, always verbally."

"Yes, Sir. Oh, no, I mean, no? no, Sir, I don’t want a spanking, Sir."

He grinned and said, "Then obey."

Chapter 1

Abigail shoved the book into her overstuffed tote and grabbed her car keys. Glancing at her watch and seeing the time, she grimaced. No two ways about it, she was definitely going to be late. Hurrying out the door, she jumped into the car, inserting the key into the ignition only to hear her cell phone ring. "Damn it," she muttered at the additional delay. Thrusting her hand into her bag and digging around to the bottom, her fingers finally found the phone. Her mood lifted slightly when she saw Sam’s smiling face on the small screen. Using her finger to slide the bar, she activated the phone. "Hi, Sam, what’s up?"

On the other end of the phone, Sam smiled a bit nervously, "Hey, I was just checking to see if you have any questions about your gift."

"I don’t know yet. I’m running late and am just now leaving the house," Abigail admitted.

"Abs, tonight is not a night to be late; you might miss something important." Sam paused for a brief moment, "I need to tell you?"

"I know, I know. I just got busy working and the time got away from me. Besides, I’ve read the book a couple of times so even if I am late, I can catch up quickly," Abigail interrupted.

Miles away, Sam’s face showed surprise as well as relief. "Really? That’s great. I didn’t? um, didn’t think you read those types of books. What do you?"

Interrupting again, Abby started the car. "Of course I read them, I love them. Look, how about I call you later and we’ll discuss it then. I really have to run." Sam agreed, after extracting Abby’s promise to call the minute she returned home. Abigail closed the phone, threw it back into the depths of her bag and backed out of the driveway. The trip took about thirty minutes and she quietly cursed under her breath as she pulled into the parking lot of the bookstore. Though the lot was fairly full, not another soul was in sight. Checking her watch once more, she grabbed her bag and hurried to the store’s entrance. It felt as if she’d dislocated her shoulder after trying to yank open the door. A second, far more tentative attempt didn’t produce a different result. Puzzled, she leaned forward, cupping her hands around her eyes to block out the bright lights from the lot in order to peer into the store. Abby’s short scream ripped through the parking lot as a man’s face appeared right in front of her. She put her hand to her chest as her heart pounded. The man smiled, unlocked the door and pushed it open.

"God, you scared me to death," she said, as she struggled to get her breathing under control.

"I’m sorry to have frightened you," the man said, his face showing his concern.

Abby moved her hand away from her chest in order to tug the strap of her bag back onto her shoulder. "I’m not sure scaring the hell out of the attendees is the way to encourage book sales, and what’s with locking the door? I almost dislocated my shoulder. I can’t imagine Keith approves of his employees lurking at the window popping out and frightening his customers when they are trying to get to the reading."

The man’s expression of concern disappeared as his right eyebrow arched in what she immediately sensed as disapproval. Suddenly feeling guilty, her face flushed as she realized that perhaps she was coming off as just a tad bitchy. Opening her mouth to attempt an apology, she wasn’t given the chance.

"The door was locked ten minutes ago. Five minutes after the designated arrival time," he informed her, looking pointedly down at his watch.

Abigail attempted to brush past him. "Oh, um, right. I just forgot the time and I don’t want to miss a word. I’ll just slip in, no one’s even going to notice."

The man thought that was highly unlikely. Her entire being exuded a sense of barely contained excitement in a very petite, extremely attractive body. "Just a moment," the man said, reaching out to lay his hand on her arm. "Your invitation, please." She appeared almost shocked and he could feel her arm tremble beneath his fingertips. Shaking his head, he repeated his request. "This is a closed event. It’s necessary to?"

"I understand," Abby interrupted. Just the touch of his hand against her skin caused a jolt of what felt like electricity to flood through her. Flustered and embarrassed at her reaction, she began to paw through her bag, almost panicking before finding the card tucked into an outside pocket. "I can imagine security might be needed as he is such an incredible author. God, I’ve loved everything he’s ever written, even the really scary books. I just can’t help myself," she gushed, triumphantly flashing the card at him. Before she could pull away, he released her arm with a nod, opening the door further so that she could enter.

He watched as the woman hurried into the store, pausing only long enough to look in both directions as if attempting to determine where she should go. When she looked back over her shoulder, he lifted a hand to indicate the small area in the left corner of the store. Not bothering to thank him, she shifted the strap of her bag once more before hurrying off in the direction he indicated. Turning to close and relock the door, he shook his head. If anyone needed to be on time, this woman was that person. Since she didn’t seem to have the courtesy to use common etiquette, he sincerely hoped she paid attention to tonight’s subject. Recalling her reference to the author’s fame, his brow furrowed. Regardless of how much she might adore the subject, she seemed unnaturally excited. Perhaps she didn’t understand that lateness and disrespect were not traits that were considered acceptable behavior. Realizing he was flexing the fingers of his right hand, the look of disapproval on his face morphed into a smile. Though Abby didn’t witness the movement, if she had, she would have felt her pulse increase and a desperate desire to reach behind her to cover a bottom that was suddenly clenching quite tightly.

Reaching the caf? area of the shop, he saw the woman slip into an empty chair at a small table on the left side of the room, and moved silently to stand almost directly behind her, leaning against the wall to listen as the book store owner addressed the audience.

"Great, it seems my last guest has arrived," Keith said, giving Abby a smile as she settled into her chair. Shrugging her shoulders as if throwing off the guilt of being late, she returned his smile and gave him a small wave. Keith grinned and resumed his speech. "I want to thank you all for coming. We are honored to be able to offer our customers a forum for tonight’s discussion. Feel free to get something from the coffee bar during the breaks. Additional books and videos will be available for purchase at the conclusion of the lecture." Sales pitch completed, he smiled and continued. "I know you will enjoy tonight’s review. Please remember that after our guest speaks, he will be glad to answer any questions. Now, let me introduce the author, Dean Koonig."

Everyone started to applaud as Dean pushed away from the wall and walked to the front of the group. After shaking Keith’s hand, he turned to his audience, his eyes sweeping over the fifty or so attendees before his gaze settled on the woman he had let into the bookstore. While most of the audience greeted him with smiles, she was once again digging through her huge shoulder bag, a puzzled look on her face.

With a slight shake of his head, he smiled and began. "I’d like to start by saying that I am the one who feels honored. I appreciate everyone coming and hope that I’m able to help you gain a better understanding of tonight’s subject. If you could please get your books out, we’ll begin." Those people who hadn’t yet placed their books on the tables in front of them quickly did so, moving aside coffee cups and other drinks. Dean waited until everyone had their eyes on him once again before he opened his mouth to speak.

"Excuse me?" Turning his head, he gave the latecomer his attention. "I um, I think I have the wrong date for my review," she said.

Raising his eyebrow, he asked, "Why do you say that? You showed me your invitation. Did you forget your book?"

Abigail looked flustered as she lifted the book she had dug out of her bag. "As you can see, I have my book, but it was written by Dean Koontz, not, um Dean somebody." Hearing several people chuckle, she looked around to see books on every table. Looking closely at the people in the room, she realized two things immediately. First, she was the only person seated alone, and, secondly, everyone was looking at her as if she were that one student back in middle school that was never prepared for class. Turning to look to the front of the room, she gave a small shriek as she saw that the supposed author had moved to stand right in front of her table.

"Sorry to frighten you again, Mrs.?"

"God, stop doing that!" she said, her heart beginning to pound again. When his eyes continued to bore into her, she flushed. "Um, Abby, Abigail Pierce."

Looking down at the tabletop, he saw the book she had brought. It was indeed written by Dean Koontz and was definitely not the book scheduled to be reviewed that evening. "Mrs. Pierce," he said, not taking his eyes off hers, "Mr. Koontz did author the book you brought, but this evening we will be discussing my book. The one written by Dean Somebody." The flush that instantly appeared on her cheeks accentuated the tiny freckles that were scattered across her pale cheeks. Pleasantly surprised when she seemed to make a conscious effort to keep her eyes on his, despite her obvious embarrassment, Dean continued. "I can assure you that our books are completely different. Mrs. Pierce, I have to admit that I’m a bit surprised that you seem so unprepared for the review. I see that you didn’t bring your husband with you. Didn’t you read the brochure that came with your ticket?"

"No, I mean, this evening is a birthday gift. It’s Miss Pierce, um, I’m not married? I’m divorced. Sam and I are both avid readers and I just assumed?"

Dean broke in. "We all know about assumptions don’t we?" Her color deepened as she finally broke eye contact. Dean turned and walked away, only to return with a copy of the brochure as well as a copy of the proper book. Placing both on the table, he spoke softly, "I suggest you take a quick moment to go through the brochure and decide if you’d like to remain for the lecture. I’d understand if you find the subject matter a bit more frightening than you might expect and you’d prefer to return when a more suitable author is scheduled."

Abigail gave a soft hmmm and took the brochure, well aware that there wasn’t a sound in the room and that she was the center of much unwanted attention. Since she had told him she loved scary books, she couldn’t imagine the meaning of his suggestion. Trying to ignore everyone, she opened the brochure, which had a plain cover, and contained information about the date and time of the review, as well as a photo of the man standing before her. Though she vaguely remembered seeing something similar to this in the card containing the ticket for the review, evidently she had thrown it away after assuming the review was being conducted by one of her favorite authors. When her eyes fell to the second page of the brochure, her breath caught as she began to read.

"Oh my God," she whispered, feeling her face heat as she heard a chuckle. Looking up quickly, thinking it had been Dean laughing, she saw his expression. There was nothing on his face to indicate he found any of this was the least bit amusing. Her eyes drifted to the table to his right and saw that the man seated there was shaking his head, a smile on his lips. Having found the source of the laughter, Abby forced her gaze back to the brochure and then over to the book he had placed on the table. The title, The Door to Domestic Discipline, was written in a large font, followed by a smaller line directly beneath that read, Your Guide to Living the Lifestyle. Both lines were overlaying a photo of an old-fashioned wooden backed hairbrush sitting on top of what appeared be a formidable looking paddle. Sudden surges of embarrassment, as well as an unexpected tightening in her stomach, made it feel like she had just eaten a handful of Mexican jumping beans that were cavorting around to the inaudible strains of a mariachi band. Her bottom lip was captured by her teeth in an unconscious display of nerves and she couldn’t force herself to look up. Abby cursed herself for not being far more diligent in opening and examining her birthday present. Not since high school, when she had forgotten it was her day to present her research paper, had she felt so ill-prepared. Caught between her desire to get up and run out of the bookstore, never to return, and her inexplicable desire to prove to this man that she wasn’t afraid, she tried to decide what to do. Taking a deep breath, knowing she didn’t want to be the source of anyone’s amusement, she looked up at Dean.

"I apologize, Mr.?" she quickly glanced down at the book again before continuing, "Mr. Koonig. While I am obviously not prepared for this review, I’d like to stay if you don’t object."

Dean felt his interest stir. Her reaction had shown that she was at least a little shocked. He was impressed by her choice to put on a brave front or, perhaps she was concerned about disappointing this Sam person. "Certainly, Miss Pierce. I’m always interested in increasing one’s sphere of experience. Oh, that is, assuming that you are new to this genre?" It absolutely amazed him that though she had been blushing since the moment she realized she had brought the wrong book, her face turned an even deeper shade of red. His interest grew when she took another deep breath and met his eyes, her determination not to make the scene even more embarrassing evident in the depths of her startling emerald colored eyes.

"I never turn down a chance for education, Mr. Koonig, no matter if I have any prior knowledge of the subject or not," Abby said, with a bravado that she hoped no one would be able to see through?especially not the man who seemed able to freeze her in place with just his eyes.

Dean gave her a nod. "That’s admirable. May I see your invitation again?" Her eyes showed her confusion at his request but she once again produced the card. Flipping it over and plucking a pen from his shirt pocket, Dean extended it to her. "You’ll need to read and sign the card if you wish to remain." Her look told him that she’d never heard of any such requirement, but she took the pen. As she started to scrawl her signature, he stopped her. "No, you need to actually read what you are signing, Miss Pierce. It is a legal document, after all."

Lifting her eyes from the card, she saw the seriousness in his. Glancing around the room again, she saw that everyone still had their attention focused on what was happening. Hating having the spotlight turned on her, Abby picked up the card and began to read the small print. By the time she had finished, she was even more confused. "This is a non-disclosure agreement?" At his nod, she continued. "Wow, you must really think your book is special if you need an NDA. Does it hold that many secrets that you fear common book lovers will be rushing out to attempt to sell your ideas?" Though she was teasing, in an attempt to disguise her unease, she immediately wished she could take the words back at the look in his eyes.

"Miss Pierce, the card protects not only my work and the personal lives of my volunteers, but also serves as protection to Keith as the owner of this bookstore. Since you are a friend of his, I’m sure you don’t wish to put him into an uncomfortable position." He paused as he watched the feigned amusement slide from her face, a blush taking its place. Gentling his tone, he continued. "It also serves to protect your identity as well. Perhaps you’d like to reconsider staying?"

Abigail felt shame course through her. He was obviously very serious and she felt like an inconsiderate jerk. Not only had she been late, she had been totally unprepared and disrespectful of a man who she had assumed was one of Keith’s employees. A man who obviously took his work seriously, and was even now keeping the others waiting while he made sure she would be comfortable staying. Quickly rereading the card, she signed her name on the bottom, passing both it and his pen back to him.

"Thank you. If you become uncomfortable at any point, I will understand if you decide to leave. You may ask Keith to unlock the door." He was rewarded with her nod even as her lips compressed, as if to say she wouldn’t leave if a dozen scary zombies wielding paddles and hairbrushes suddenly appeared from nowhere. Turning away, he grinned. It would indeed be very interesting to see how long the feisty woman was able to maintain her outward appearance of unconcern. His smile widened as he thought about the difference between his work and that of Dean Koontz?she might like horror stories, but could she handle what he instinctively knew she would discover to be a somewhat scary reality practiced by a great deal of people?

Abigail listened for the next hour as Dean discussed his book, her heart pounding as he described the role of a man and a woman in a traditional relationship and how it was the man’s responsibility to guide his wife and children down the proper path. Her mouth dropped open as he discussed rules of behavior and consequences given when those rules were deemed broken. Looking around the room, she saw nothing but rapt faces either watching the charismatic speaker or engrossed in the pages of his book. Opening the copy Dean had loaned her, Abby glanced at the illustrations and could hardly believe that people in this day and age were willing to attend a review such as this. Instead of seeing mouths open in either shock or incredulity, she saw nods and smiles as the audience appeared to be actually agreeing with these archaic beliefs.

A movement drew her attention to the couple seated at the table closest to hers. A young woman was squirming slightly on her chair and her husband, if Dean’s assumption that married couples were attending his seminar was correct, leaned close, put his hand on the woman’s leg and whispered something in her ear. Whatever he said had the woman sitting up straighter, hands folded neatly in her lap, no longer squirming. Unaware that they were being observed, the couple returned their attention to the front of the room. Abby’s gaze roved again, noticing that the women all seemed to be sitting still and upright in their chairs, hands either in their laps or folded on the tabletop, eyes glued to the front as if determined not to be seen as being inattentive. In contrast, their husbands looked far more comfortable, leaning back in their chairs, legs crossed at ankles, arms relaxed, hands occasionally turning pages in the book as they followed Dean’s words.

Realizing that pages were being turned, Abigail herself flipped to the next chapter and couldn’t stifle a small gasp. The page contained a color photograph detailing an obvious punishment. Her eyes remained riveted on the page until she heard chairs scraping against the floor and people beginning to talk. Glancing at the photo again, she quickly closed the book when she saw Dean walking towards her. Taking a deep breath, she gave him a tentative smile and he grinned back.

"Haven’t scared you off yet?" he asked, tapping the book.

Blushing, she lifted her chin, determined not to let this man get the best of her. "Mr. Koonig, I’m a big girl and despite what I said earlier, I don’t frighten that easily. I might not have been properly prepared, but I’m not going to just run away."

Secretly pleased at her answer, he nodded and held out his hand. "Dean, please, call me Dean. Now, Abigail, would you allow me to treat you to a cup of coffee? We’re all taking a break before the demonstrations begin."

Abigail hesitated. "Demonstrations?" Had she heard him correctly? Looking around, she saw several couples mingling with each other, fresh cups of coffee or tea in hand. She looked back at Dean to see that his hand remained extended towards her. Tentatively taking it, she felt a repeat of the earlier jolt of electricity as his hand closed to completely engulf hers. Their brief encounter at the door had not allowed her time to truly register his appearance. He was tall and broad. His black hair was thick and wavy, the strands of silver at his temples serving to give him an almost forbidding presence?as if to announce he had been around for a while, seen quite a lot and had absolutely no problem in handling any situation. Piercing blue eyes could freeze her into immobility when he focused his gaze on her, and yet seemed to make her to want to curl up at his feet, drinking in every word he chose to share. When she stood, the top of her head barely reached the middle of his chest, and she had to fight the urge to lay her cheek onto his shirt to listen to the sound of his heartbeat. His size and proximity caused her heart to beat a bit faster, her blood to feel as if it were racing through her veins, and she wouldn’t even think about the fact that her panties seemed to be growing a little damp. Never in her life had simply being close to a man caused her to feel the sensations that continued to bombard her.

Dean smiled down at her before guiding her to the coffee counter. His eyes slowly and deliberately raked up and down her frame as she turned to place her order, her ponytail swishing. Wavy strands of auburn shot through with glimmers of gold and red had him aching to wrap her hair around his fingers in order to hold her steady while he plundered her mouth. Her plain white t-shirt molded to a pair of breasts that he just knew would fit perfectly in the palms of his hands. His fingers almost twitched with the need to stroke her nipples into stiff, delicious morsels that his lips and tongue could savor. Eyes drifting lower, he imagined his hands doing the same, his fingers trailing across the flat of her stomach to unsnap and unzip the very item that hid what he was positive had to be an incredible bottom, judging by how the old pair of jeans did nothing to hide the fullness of her rear. Wondering exactly what sort of lingerie Miss Pierce preferred, Dean smiled, as he could easily picture the beauty in either a revealing thong or a pair of far more modest white briefs; the thought of his hands lowering either pair making his blood race faster. He was imagining ordering her to wrap what surely had to be a pair of sexy legs around his waist when a voice broke through his fantasy, announcing that his order was ready.

A bit shaken at his visceral reaction to the woman, Dean shook his head to gather his wits about him. God, the woman has been sent by her partner to learn what I have to say, not to become the target of my own fantasies! Taking a deep breath, he saw the cup on the counter. He had listened as Abby ordered a large caramel latte with extra whipped cream and caramel sauce.

"Sweet tooth?" he asked, grinning as he picked up her completed order and handed it to her.

"Guilty as charged," she answered, her lips curving up as she wrapped her hands around the cup. Her eyes closed in pleasure as she inhaled the rich aroma of the coffee, opening to find him looking rather intensely down at her. Stiffening for only an instant, Abby shrugged and then giggled, taking her first sip. "I confess, I’m sort of a coffee addict. I drink it all day long."

Dean accepted his own cup of black coffee from the barista. "Do you ever have trouble sleeping at night?" he began.

"No! I sleep just fine thank you," she interrupted, and continued with a sharp tone, "why? Do you think I should have trouble sleeping?"

"Relax, Miss Pierce, I didn’t mean to offend you. I just meant, doesn’t the caffeine keep you awake?"

She took another sip as she attempted to regain her composure. Though he might have been thinking of caffeine, her mind had been on his lecture. Recalling his earlier words that guilt left unattended could cause stress and sleepless nights had been the first thought to run through her mind at his question. He probably thought she was some sort of nut from her snapped answer?a nut with a guilty conscience.

"No, you didn’t offend me. I mean, it’s okay?the coffee?I switch to decaf at night, so no worries," Abby managed to answer, hoping that she sounded calm, cool and collected even though she felt like a complete idiot inside. Dean nodded and led her away from the counter. Sipping her coffee, she tried to appear as if nothing were capable of bothering her.

Dean watched her closely, the grin still on his lips. Though she was making a pretty good attempt to appear unaffected by her evening, the blush on her cheeks, as well as the slight tremble of her hands as she held her cup, told him that her world was spinning. He couldn’t imagine giving this woman such a gift and then not sharing the experience with her. Cost couldn’t be the issue as the ticket covered a couple’s admission. The only thing he could think of that made the least bit of sense was that Sam was already experienced with domestic discipline and felt it was only Abigail who needed the class. Even if that were the case, Sam should have taken the time and energy to make sure his partner understood what she was getting herself into. Knowing that Abby’s world would soon be turned totally upside down when the review continued, he asked his next question. "Tell me, Abigail, did you grow up with domestic discipline, or is this all completely new to you?" Seeing her cheeks once more suffuse with color, he was charmed. He hadn’t seen a grown woman blush as many times?or in quite so many attractive shades?during one conversation in a very long time, especially one who still had all her clothes on.

"I, um, well, while I really don’t think that is any of your business, but I am not totally ignorant of discipline. My parents were very strict."

"And your husband?" Dean asked, without a shade of embarrassment at the personal question.

"Ex-husband. No, Nick never, perhaps?" her voice trailed off, almost as if she had forgotten he was there.

His eyes locked on hers. Perhaps? Perhaps she was deciding that the reason for this gift was that Sam was intending on introducing domestic discipline into

This was a well written and well told story of a woman entering into a DD or D/s relationship. The story is such a good one, I loved how Abby is tricked into going to the book review at the beginning! I also liked reading the journey of her entering this lifestyle. I hate it when a story feels rushed, and this one didn\’t! It does a great job of showing varying degrees of the lifestyle, so beware, some do get pretty graphic/severe.

A book review discussion about Domestic Discipline……that was Abby’s first encounter with author Dean Koonig. She was mesmerized by the live demonstration of a spanking given by one of the couples there. The whole experience left her feeling off balance. She soon learns that her best friends practice DD.Through her best friend Abby meets Dean again. As their relationship progresses Abby slowly begins to come to terms with living a DD relationship. This author has done a great job of explaining a DD lifestyle and the difficulties someone new to the lifestyle would face.I did feel some of the discipline was severe in places but it was a captivating read.

Ms Ryan has a way of making her characters seem like real people, putting them into situations that cause them to look deep within themselves. She does it again in this book. Abby is a strong and successful woman with no problem asking the hard questions. She is instantly attracted to Dean but doesn’t rush into anything even as her desires to explore discipline grow. Dean is a man who does not push either himself or his ideas onto her. He is patient and understands her fears. When they do come together, they mesh beautifully. Sam and Ian have practiced a DD lifestyle for years and are there to help Abby explore her own needs. This is a very well written offering that I truly enjoyed reading. I’d like to believe that Ms Ryan will tell us more of Anna and Richard’s story soon.

Abby going to a seminar on domestic discipline while totally in the dark as to the subject matter was a great intro to an exciting story. Finding out how Abby was blindsided by the seminar was a high point. Then, at a church gathering, we meet Dean on a personal level. For me this book was a split decision. I adored Ian and despised Dean. Ian should have been the lead on DD. He did give extreme punishment, but he made sure Sam, his wife, was fully on board for each step of the way. He never let her feel she was not cared for or on her own. I felt he adored her. Dean, on the other hand, never made me feel like he loved anyone but himself. While Ian spanked the crap out of his wife, he made sure he creamed in some relief. Dean used his hand, a switch, a paddle, a belt and never once attended to her butt. Dean said the words, but Ian lived them. I would definitely love to read more about Ian and Sam, but I??d love Abby to find a better man. Regardless, Ryan weaves a good story worth reading.

“I really loved the preview chapter and was looking forward to this book so much. That was until the fishing chapter. Now, i always thought he was condescending and a little aloof. But after that chapter, I could hardly read anymore. I will go back a few chapters and say that I couldn’t stand Ian at all. Why Sam was married to him, was beyond me. I kept wondering why somebody didn’t say to either Dean or Ian “”Who died and made you God?””. That’s how they made me feel. I did enjoy the seduction scene, when she was seducing him, but it was a little too late for me. This seems to be more of a D/S book, not DD. The woman almost seemed afraid of their men, who would ever want that. Also, if Dean said to Abby “”Good Girl”” one more time I was either going to say Woof Woof or say good boy to him. Way too many good girl’s. Also, what seems to happen in some of these stories, is the sex scenes are carried out where the woman are not allowed to touch the man, hands above their heads holding onto something. This happened in this book as well. Don’t their men want them to touch them, are they that insecure? Again, was very disappointed.”

I was all over this book as soon as it came out. I’ve already read most of this author’s books, so I knew I would love this one. And I wasn’t disappointed. I could totally relate to and get in the heads of both Abby, the author, and her best friend Sam. If you like hot dirty sex and lots of spankings then I’m sure you will love this books as much as I did.

This was an eye-opening book. It is sort of a primer for people going into D/d. We first meet Abby when she is going to a book review at a local bookstore. She is shocked to learn that the book they are reviewing is about how to live a D/d lifestyle. She is even more shocked to find out that there are demonstrations of punishments by the attendees. The next day, she is at dinner with Sam and her husband Ian and she realizes that they gave her the gift certificate to this review because they are in a D/d relationship and Sam wanted to be able to share with her friend. Because she lied to her husband and to Abby and embarrassed Abby, Sam is given a severe punishment that does not end for a week. By the time they are through, she is a very well punished young lady. Meanwhile, once Dean, the author of the book realizes that Abby is not in a relationship, they start to date. Abby gradually becomes submissive to Dean as their relationship progresses. I really liked this story. It was of a decent length and I really enjoyed these characters. It makes me wonder if these kinds of reviews actually do happen! I highly recommend this book, but I do caution you that the punishments are severe at times. I give this story 5 stars.

Abby Pierce is an author and woman who has learned to take care of herself after her failed marriage. Her best friends, Samantha and Ian, give her a gift for her birthday to a lecture by an author. But there is just a slight difference in the last name and Abby doesn’t really pay attention, discarding the brochure and not getting the book for this lecture that was part of the gift. What a shock to get to the lecture and learn it is by an author who writes books and gives closed lectures on Domestic Discipline. Ian is very upset when he learns that Sam let Abby attend without being honest with her about Dean Koonig. In this story it will cover the DD lifestyle of Ian and Sam along with her punishments. Then the budding relationship and journey into DD for Abby with Dean. Sam learns to be honest and share with Abby more about the DD lifestyle and some of what is required by Ian in their marriage. This story has explicit sex scenes, various punishments including OTK spankings and the use of various implements, enemas, anal play but all done in a loving, safe, sane and consensual relationship.

Loved the way this book started, I was as lost and confused as Abby was, felt like I was there with her, so embarrassing. Dean’s life style is slowly introduced and then bang, she purposely brings it on to herself by pulling a dangerous prank. Can she be accepting of Dean’s reaction to her putting her life in jeopardy? Read and find out. I liked seeing into the private life of Sam, that was nicely done, Wow! I highly recommend this book and gladly give it 5 stars, could not put it down.

This is the story of two authors who fall in love and engage in a DD relationship. Abby meets Dean at his book review. Abby was embarrassed and intrigued by what she witnessed. Her friend Sam forgot to prepare her for the evening events and later paid the price for her neglect and lying. She soon confided in her friend Abby about the lifestyle she and her husband Ian lived. Abby found herself altering her views and her style of writing as her relationship developed with Dean. He taught her that her submission was truly treasured. I only wished the story had been longer and look forward to the next installment.

Abigail Pierce receives a birthday gift from her best friend Samantha and her husband Ian to attend a customer forum and review of author Dean Koonig’s new book. Abigail goes thinking that she is going to meet and get to listen to one of her favorite authors Dean Koontz. Imagine her surprise and embarrassment when she finds out that the review is for the book “”The Door To Domestic Discipline”” and not “”The Door To December””. Abby decides to stay and gets not only information but also a couple of demonstrations.

So begins Maggie Ryan’s book and it only gets better from there. The author did a marvelous job in explaining and showing domestic discipline while still keeping the reader fully engaged and entertained. We(the readers) also get to know a little more about Samantha and Ian’s life. The characters are strong, fully fleshed out and just fun. I thoroughly enjoyed this story.”

This was a cute story about learning domestic discipline. I must warn you though there are a few scenes that seemed a bit severe to me. Abby is a thirty something divorced woman. Dean is an author whose books are about Domestic Discipline. Abby??s friends Ian and Sam are already into the DD scene.
The domestic discipline between Ian and Samantha, and other scenes in the book, include butt plugs, belts, paddles, cane, enemas, sodomy, Anal whipping, etc. Not for those that are easily offended. I did not agree with the degree of DD that Ian and Sam are practicing, but they were consenting adults.
The second half of the story is about Abby learning about DD and falling for Dean. It was a sweet romance and the book had a happy ending.

This was a well written and well told story of a woman entering into a DD or D/s relationship. The story is such a good one, I loved how Abby is tricked into going to the book review at the beginning! I also liked reading the journey of her entering this lifestyle. I hate it when a story feels rushed, and this one didn’t! It does a great job of showing varying degrees of the lifestyle, so beware, some do get pretty graphic/severe.
