Feisty redhead Mae Weston lives in Fire Gorge, a small Nevada town situated next to a Paiute Indian reservation. She talks too much, reads x-rated magazines and has moments of foolish bravado, but basically, she’s a small town girl with good intentions. When robbers become would-be killers, Mae has to shoot or be shot, putting herself in the middle of a criminal investigation.

Drake Stillwater is a Paiute who’s moved away from life on the reservation. He worked his way through the ranks in the regional security office of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and then found his way to a job as Fire Gorge’s Police Chief. As Principle Investigator of the robbery and shooting at Mae’s convenience store, he has to work closely with her. She proves to be difficult, but a spanking calms her down.

It also riles her up, leading her to want another, and another. Drake doesn’t mind at all.

This was an enjoyable story about Mae Weston who works at her daddy\\\’s gas station in the small town of Fire Gorge, and Drake Stillwater who is Chief of Police for the community. While there is a bit of a mystery in figuring out who robbed the station, most of the story focuses on how Drake\\\’s and Mae\\\’s relationship develops. I liked Mae\\\’s talkative personality and how it fits with Drake being a man of few words, and seeing Mae come out of her shell by the end of the story was satisfying. The glimpse into life on the Paiute reservation was also interesting, and I enjoyed the variety of secondary characters in this book.

I liked this story. I agree that it might have lacked some heat but I thought it was a good romance. I really enjoyed talkative Mae and the contrasting silent Drake.

This was a great story about a young lady, Mae, who was working at her father\\\’s gas station/convenience store when it was robbed. Enter Drake Stillwater, the Chief of Police who is investigating the robbery. Mae is a bit difficult but no worries, Drake takes care of that the old fashioned way.

Thia is a great story about Mae Weston who works at her father\\\’s gas station in the small town of Fire Gorge, and Drake Stillwater who is Chief of Police and is investigating a robbery gone bad at the store. Mae sure does get worked up but Drake calms her right down with a good spanking. This only makes her want another which leads to a very interesting read with fun and interesting characters.

Mae is worth the price of the story all by herself. She has a personality that jumps from the pages. Drake seemed so controlled by life and his \\\’standing\\\’ in the community that Mae had to have felt like a huge splash of ice water in the face. Mae\\\’s openness and pleasure in spanking and Drake\\\’s evolution into a beginning smiler made this a warm read.

This story grabs you from the start, a robbery, shooting and spanking! Mae is fiery and independent but Drake is her match and she is willing to go against her Father to get what she wants and needs. Drake is the strong and silent type just what Mae needs. Ms. Green weaves a wonderful tale of small towns, prejudice and how it can be overcome.

I loved the story of Drake and Mae. The relationship between the main characters developed nicely, but I wish the story was a little longer. I would love to read a sequel.

A very enjoyable story. It grabs your attention right away and keeps it through the entire story. Patricia Green did a job developing the characters and the relationship between Mae and Drake. Mae is fun and feisty. Drake is your typical dominant male ready for the challenge.

I liked it. It had a plot aside from spanking. Drake was a likable guy. It was a quick read and I would have liked more development. I didn\\\’t believe that Virginia would stop her mischief. I would have liked to see what happened to his cousin, I also didn\\\’t know how her father found out. But they were minor in comparison to the happy ending. I am not sure I liked the fact of inter-racial being thrown in the readers face over and over….but I guess it can happen. They over came the rift well and showed that where love is, it can overcome all. My favorite scene is when Mae is spanked after the robbery to come her down.

Not overly impressed with this one. I hate stories in which characters talk in dialect for no reason – if you really think about it, the way most people say have to sounds like hafta anyway, but spelling it hafta in dialogue just makes the character seem stupid. The main relationship didn\\\’t seem convincing, unless it\\\’s just spanking that keeps them together, and the ending seemed rather abrupt. It wasn\\\’t a waste of money, but it sure wasn\\\’t what I\\\’d hoped for.
