(16 customer reviews)

Beautiful, headstrong and reckless, Lady Elspeth Dunwoodie is the youngest child of the Marquess of Crieff, one of Regency Scotland’s most distinguished peers. When she is discovered in a compromising situation with the notorious Sir Duncan Buccleuch, her family sends her to the West Indies to marry a wealthy plantation owner she has never met. But on the way to Barbados, the ship is attacked and Elspeth finds herself prisoner of the Black Scot, an infamous pirate captain with a mysterious past.

Can the lively ingénue soften the heart of a battle-weary buccaneer, and can the pirate king tame a willful, wayward young aristocrat?

I\’m adding Fiona Monroe to my favorite authors. This is an amazing story with a wonderful storyline with Scotland and pirates, intrigue and romance. It\’s length is something else I like, the characters are more deeply explored and is a page turner. I got so caught up in the story that I read it from start to finish. The spanking was well done, the sex was not explicit but well written.

Very good read. I love a book that has a good plot and great characters. This book has a great amount of excitement, I think the h deserved much more punishment for all she did to cause trouble for everyone she comes in contact with. Then I like the reasoning of the H about what you would do as a prisoner of war, try to escape.

This was a very lengthy book! Most of the story was happening aboard a ship. Elspeth and Captain Roderick Scott (who is a pirate) are the main characters. There is a 20 year age difference – which I would have liked better if it had only been 10 years or less. There is romance, fighting\’s, spankings and adventure! I gave this book a 4!

This was a page-turner. The book was plenty long to get attached to the characters include action, suspense, and plot twists. It would be interesting to read how their relationship develops in the future.

Lady Elspeth Dunwoodie is the 10th child and very late in life daughter of Marquess of Crieff, who has been in failing health and bedbound. His oldest son, James, is widowed and courting the young Lady Arabella, daughter of a Duke and fears that Elspeth\’s wild ways will ruin his plans for marriage so he arranges to ship her off to Barbados to marry a Mr. Isaac Crowther who has a sugar plantation. So much happens in this story, from her ship being overtaken by pirates, a near mutiny, mystery, suspense, a wild and impetuous young woman, a charming but lethal pirate and many adventures on the high seas.

I just loved this story! The first surprise of the book is that our heroine, Lady Elspeth is soooo naughty! I, of course loved that, and found each of her ever increasingly dangerous antics to be quite thrilling!! The second surprise, is the fact that she survives; barely, the impropriety of one brother, only to end up the prisoner of another brother (this one presumed dead, but really turned pirate)! And that, really is just the beginning of this enticing, long, and wonderful book! I highly recommend it!

This is a very enjoyable and lengthy story about Lady Elspeth and Lord Duncan. The story is based on a pirate ship with much of the action happening aboard. However, the plot is very well rounded and includes plenty of storyline evolving from what happens elsewhere. This effectively rounds out the plot and builds interest as realistically, there is only so much action that can take place aboard ship. Mind you, the author covers all possible occurrences extremely well.
