Casey Everson has it all - a good job in a balmy southern city. But when she decides to trade it all in for a chance for a life of love and liberation in the wild Alaskan outback, she quickly learns that frontier principles are much what they were centuries before women’s liberation. Garrett Adams is much what Casey expected from their lengthy correspondence - rugged, principled and old-fashioned. But Casey quickly finds that sometimes, getting what you want can bring some sore lessons, especially when you become the center of a hidden feud between two domineering pioneer men.

I liked the story but didn\\\’t like the ending as much. I felt at the end Garrett\\\’s character appeared a little weak. Still a good read though. Also had some action.

I started out really liking this story. It got a little disturbing as it took a dark turn that was very unexpected. I would have liked the ending better if Garrett would have done a better job of protecting Casey.

This is a very good story that takes place in the Alaskan outback and has a very alpha male as the hero. He has some very old fashioned views and what he says goes or he spanks. There was good action and the characters were really developed which was nice.

Had some good moments, but towards the middle, there was a real TSTL moment for the heroine (it involved trekking off into the wilderness by herself). Irksome, but at least the resulting crisis was not resolved in a truly irritating fashion. Aside from that, I liked the characters and enjoyed the book.

Nice story about the Alaskan outback and how hard it is to survive and that everyone has to work together. Was slow at times but overall it was a good book with intersting characters.

This story had a whole lot to it! I really liked the characters, their interaction was very fun see as you were reading. Sometimes I felt like the spankings were kind of severe, but I liked the story so much it didn\\\’t matter. It just really kept you going from start to finish!

Casey comes to the Alaskan wilderness to be with Garrett. This good story is about them learning about each other and how to live together in this setting. Many outside influences threaten their happiness. I liked these characters a lot.

I enjoyed this book. Casey and Garret develeped quite nicely together. The first book I have read about Alaska though. So, it was interesting to see how much different it was then the rest of the United States.

Garrett is looking for a woman to share his home in the Alaska wilderness. She will need to be able to handle living off the land and being with and old-fashioned man. Casey leaves her home, job and wordly comfort to be the woman Garrett is seeking. However, in an effort to prove herself, bad things happen.

I have longed to live in Alaska on a homestead, so reading this gave me a glimpse into what that might be like. I love that she came into the situation knowing how things would be. I knew the villian was bad news the minute he appeared! Wonderful story of love and discipline. Would love to see a sequel!

Very nice book about a woman leaving her fast past life for a chance at love and life in the wilderness. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The spankings were okay and so was the sex. This book was a little mellow in the passion department, but made up for that with a fantastic cat and mouse chase with the guide. I felt for the two women he spanked as if it were me. I thought about what I would do, and felt the devastation and disgust she felt when her man accused her of wanting/liking it. It was good. The books final spanking was a shock. Oddly turned me on, but horrible at the same time. I just wish there had been one more chapter after the rescue so she could have had a nice long session with her own man and then some cuddling forgiveness before the book ended . He never cuddled her after a spanking in the whole book which was really the only missing piece that bothered me.

An adventure story set in the Alaskan wilderness that had some interesting twists. I thought this story had a great setting, an interesting plot, and some enjoyable characters with one seriously disturbed individual thrown in. Clarke tends to follow the same formula in many stories- that of an evil man who wants the woman as his own. Casey was a strong willed woman who was ready to make a major change in her life. I enjoyed her character but wasn\\\’t so sure about Garrett. He spanked awfully hard with a switch at one point without hearing Casey out. He demanded respect but I felt he didn\\\’t respect her all the time. Like another reviewer said, the few spankings we read about from Garrett, he never cuddled her-just let her fall to the ground. He also was less than heroic during the confrontation near the end of the story but did make up for it later. I just wish there would have been more romance and more gentleness depicted on Garrett\\\’s part

This was a great story with an interesting plot. The characters were all strong likable and easy to identify with yet not perfect so that they became unrealistic. Very definitely worth the read.

The premise was right up my alley (homesteaders), so I bought this book. I had some difficulties keeping my focus, mostly due to the 2 major characters. Casey, though smart and willing to try and learn, sometimes acted very childlike (when left home while Garrett went hunting without her, she suddenly decided she\’d show him by taking her own hunting trip, even though she didn\’t know what caliber of weapon she should take and wouldn\’t have known how to field dress a deer if she had shot one. What was she thinking?) That was not the only time I shook my head and thought, \”I don\’t believe this story.\” I would have liked Garrett\’s character more if it were more fully fleshed out. I saw that he was stoic, sometimes self-absorbed, and not always paying attention to Casey\’s needs, but also that he was a little overboard on the punishments. I didn\’t see much in terms of redeeming character traits, except that he loved her (but didn\’t seem to understand that he had any responsibility toward meeting her emotional needs). I found it distracting when I lost my focus on the book because my brain was responding to so many things our main characters did by saying, \”REALLY?\”, and then going back and re-reading to make sure I hadn\’t missed something. And, let\’s face it, I\’m a homesteading fan and Sullivan could have thrown in a few more specifics about how Casey and Garrett got things done in their day-to-day life (that\’s subjective, though, and didn\’t impact on my rating). BUT…Sullivan Clarke writes really really well, and I did enjoy the book.
