Alexandra Fletcher loves her job as a junior editor in a team at a prestigious publishing house. At a fancy launch party, she bumps into John Burden, an author. She finds him unbearably arrogant and lets him know it. His response is unexpected and shocking. In the back alley of the hotel, where the party is held, John Burden shows her what he feels about being snubbed by her. The showing includes some removal of her knickers and some rather painful contact with the palm of his hand.

Alexandra wishes she had never met this brute of a man. Fate wishes differently and she is forced to work closely with him and his upcoming novel, too close for Alexandra’s comfort.

To add to the complications, John Burden is a man Alexandra finds irresistible, at least when she isn’t reminded of his arrogance and his harsh treatment of her. It would be so much easier if he didn’t insist on expressing his displeasure in such a hands on way.

Sparks fly when Alexandra meets John for the first time and she\\\’s glad she\\\’ll never have to see him again. Of course she ends up not only seeing him but having to work with him as well. This story really had more layers than the typical spanking story. It explored the difference between pleasure and punishment spankings, the different levels of trust involved, whether a relationship is necessary, and even does sex a given. As Alexandra explores her feelings for John, she is also forced to explore her feelings and understanding of spankings and they role they play in her life. Some very interesting ideas explored in this story.

This story had good character development. And it also gave good description of how the relationship between and John and Alexandra. What I also enjoyed is how it explored different types of spanking needs. Some for punishment and others for pleasure through pain.

This was a good story with a lot of detail and good chemistry between Alexandra and John. At times it felt a little long winded but it did have a great ending.

It was hard for me to follow the story line. The male character was so secretive and complex, when his reasons were finally revealed they really weren\\\’t believable.

Alexandra learns the hard way it is not nice to snub people especially ones you may be forced to work with in an up close and personal way. John knows just how to deal with a snotty young woman and doesn\\\’t hesitate to show his displeasure in a very hands on way. Alexandra learns alot about herself as she works with John and finds out that spankings don\\\’t all have to be bad girl ones.

This is a different read. It\\\’s written in such a way that the reader is as confused as Alexandra throughout most of the story. John is a strong individual but doesn\\\’t give many hints as to his true feelings and the reader is trying to figure him out along with Alexandra. The story is familiar but the style is unique. If you can handle the ins and outs of a closed mouth, this is the read for you. If not, you\\\’ll be disappointed. Dashwood used my confusion to engage my curiosity for completion and she succeeded.

I liked this story, but it wasn\\\’t one that was exactly to my tastes. The hero was definitely a dominant man. And he needed his heroine to be his submissive. I really liked how it started out, when he spanked her at a party for being rude, but after that it changed. Just not the story for me.

This story was well written but not my kind of story. I felt the heroine was spanked for no reason. There was very little affection between the hero and heroine until the end of the story. I just couldn\\\’t identify with either character. That said it wasn\\\’t a book that I had trouble going back to and finishing so I did feel that the author did a good job just not a book that was to my liking.

This is an amazing book about what spanking can do to people and to their relationship. It´s wonderful to read about Alexandra and John; how Alexandra\\\’s feelings change for him, (the arrogant author), during the book. When they first meet at a party, John takes Alexandra outside, to spank her (one of the greatest spankings I have ever read!)…and you will get much more….in many different ways! The way John\\\’s and Alexandra\\\’s lovestory develops through the book is exciting reading. It will effect you in many different ways, you will be part of how Alexandra and John see things, and how they change during the story. Everything feels so real.

The book is just excellent. You get so close to Alexandra, her thoughts, her feelings, and how her life changes. You become like a close friend of hers. Everything in the book comes alive in Amanda Dashwood\\\’s writing!

This story was OK. The interaction between Alexandra and John in the beginning was flat and very unbelievable. A stranger would not spank a strange woman just for snubbing him – really?!. The interaction did get a bit better but not enough to get over that first feeling that they were still strangers and the plot wasn\\\’t contrived just to write a story around the spankings.
