Abby Miller is running from a lot of things. Her past, her family, her present, herself. The journey is cut short when she lands smack in the heart of Dixie, living next door to a pushy, redneck, grease monkey, town sheriff. His handsome good looks and take charge attitude has her toes curling, but her heart is having a hard time giving in. When the past catches up with her, will she finally turn to the one person that has proven true all along?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters were well developed and it was full of charm and romance. There was even a little intrigue thrown in for good measure. I wouldn\’t hesitate to recommend this book.

This was a well written story but it does mention how the main character had been abused as a child which is uncomfortable reading. There is a handsome strong alpha character in the form of Sheriff Jesse who lives next door to Abby and a relationship ensues.

I enjoyed this story that keeps the pages turning as it takes the reader on an emotional roller coaster ride. It has some of the funniest, laughing out loud moments, but also is full of secrets that have crippled Abby Miller emotional. Moving from her hometown of Baltimore to Ocala, Alabama to teach high school biology and try to start over is a culture shock. The townsfolk are friendly, caring, helpful and even nosey. Sheriff Jesse Baker, the next door neighbor, comes across to Abby as a pushy, redneck grease monkey. When he makes an offer of help, it doesn’t come with an option to refuse.
The plot allows the reader to enjoy good old fashion Southern hospitality, food and entertainment along with a delightful cast of in-your-face friendly characters and a few makes-your-skin-crawl individuals. Abby is doing her best to settle in and try and put the past and her family behind her, but that may be easier said than done. Jesse has gently tried to coax Abby to tell him more of her life and what is bothering her, but she clams up, and he knows she is keeping secrets. The relationship between Abby and Jesse is steadily growing serious, but fear holds her back from being open and honest with him. I laughed out loud so many times while reading this story, some of the humorous situations and stories shared by the various characters. It also is full of tense moments that become life and death situations. There are several consensual spanking scenes, but no sex scenes. Once again, Beth Bennett has written a very enjoyable and entertaining story.

Another great tale from Beth Bennett. This time a contemporary romance that is at once witty and humorous but has some uncomfortable twists, which make this tale between Sheriff Baker and Abby quite intriguing. As always Beth delivers on spankings and an interesting story line.

I love author Beth Bennett\’s books and this new one doesn\’t disappoint me. The storyline is great and it had me laughing at the witty dialogue and had me feeling angry at what happened to the main heroine who was still running from her abuser. The hero was a laid back southern sheriff who was supportive and charming and an old fashioned gentle man who believes in spanking. There was some bad men and violence and a delightful dog named Bubba.

I enjoyed this sweet and easy read! The characters were real and not over the top, as they dealt with problems many people could face. Abby was kind and loving, but like so many others, she was dealing with trust issues and family hurts. Jesse was charming, helpful, and full of surprises. He had suffered his own loss but had overcome his hurt and was in a good place in life. Watching their story play out brought a smile to my face as the humor and fun showed through their words and actions. I adored the setting of a small town with southern charm but also included a little mystery from Abby\’s past in Baltimore. Read to find out if Jesse and Abby can overcome the past and find the future they both desire. I recommend this well written, sweet, and easy read to anyone who wants to relax and enjoy a good book with some wonderful humor. Enjoy!

What a sweet story. It had it all. It had humor, and mystery and romance. Abby is running away from her family and her old life. She wants a new start and she moves to a small town in the south. Jesse is the sheriff of the town and he is smitten with her from the moment he sees her. You don’t know what
Abby is running from until the end, but it is all neatly tied up and has a HEA. There is no graphic sex. There are a few well deserved swats with a paddle and hand, but again, nothing over the top. An enjoyable read.
