His Defiant Bride is one of Fiona Wilde’s best. This has heart! There is love, deception, love, drama, love, spankings, love complications, and more love and spankings! Mrs. Ketchum, the beautiful Elsie, is writing a very naughty book. It is scandalous. The dashingly stern, Mr. James Ketchum, is the official designated to catch the naughty writer. The reader is taken on an emotional, exciting journey and these two characters get to know each other in increments. As more and more is revealed, will James be able to accept who Elsie really is? Strong characters, humor, and a tight plot work together to make this story a worthy read. Enjoy!

This book was such a total surprise for me! Elise was a character that was way ahead of her time in all things sexual and slightly sexually naughty!! I just loved that about her! And then there was James; he was a very straight-laced man of his era, that had no problem correcting his wife. It was just what she made him feel and desire during and after that chastisement that bothered him!! This was fast paced, exciting, and most of all fun!

A great story where society tells you that sex is not something to explore and enjoy. Elise has desires and things she wants to try, but her husband James conforms to the norms of society & wants to protect his innocent wife, while fighting against the desires he buries inside himself.

Elise has written a secret sexual book containing the things she secretly wants to explore with James, the book is breaking the law but she also believes it could help other people who may feel the same as her. As James leads the investigation to track down the author of the book, Elise tries to get James to break free but despairs that it will never happen.

This story clearly contained that struggle against what society was telling you was right and I enjoyed seeing Elise trying to tell her secret to James through the book she wrote.

I received this as an ARC for an honest review.

Very interesting. I have admit Elise was very conniving, but she does have a point that she is trying to show her husband.
Few little twist and turns. Very entertaining . I was given this story has a ARC.

Different storyline! James, a detective, is supposed to find out who is writing the naughty books that have mysteriously been published. Little does he know, it has been his innocent wife Elise the whole time. He needs to make some decisions when he finds out. It would be interesting to see a sequel to this one, to see how their life together continues after this.

This was a totally delightful read with a strong feisty brilliant young woman, Elsie, and her dashingly handsome husband who was rather a prude and was concerned about what the government and religious leaders had to say about the sexual morals of men and women in this Victorian era. The feelings and emotions of the characters was delved into as the story progressed and had a satisfactory conclusion. There was mystery, suspense, lots of spanking, hot sex and more. Terrific story!

“The Defiant Wife was a light and cute read. Liking Elise was easy. She had spunk and was not willing to settle in what she wanted in life. However James appeared a little weak as a leader in his marriage. He allowed Elise to manipulate and “”top from the bottom”” way to much. I believe he allowed himself to see an image of what he wanted Elise to be instead of who she was both when he married her as well as who she remained to be throughout this book. Although I agreed with how they resolved their situation I wish that the story had been longer and the resolution took more time and thought. Overall it was a cut story that included love, spanking, and a some laughs. Read and enjoy!”

I received this book as an arc in exchange for a review. I thought this book was one of the best books I have ever read! It is a historical romance with a very modern main character named Elise. It was as if a modern day woman was thrust into this puritanical time in history. James, her constable /husband was conflicted by his desires, his wife and the staid values of the time. There were parts in the book where parts of the story were retold and yet I felt riveted to read it again

A great book with an interesting plot. I really enjoyed Elise, a strong and smart woman who knew what she wanted and was brave enough to go for it. Her husband eventually starts to listen and discovers she has the right of it. Their journey is a bumpy road to happiness.

I enjoyed this story and would hope that there will be a follow-up to Detective James Ketchum and his wife, Elise. The Victorian era, where the morals and immorality of citizens are laid out by not only the church but also the government. James has been handed a case to find the author and printer of Desires under the Obscene Publications Act. The story will keep the pages turning as the mystery and suspense unfolds and the culprits are discovered. The plot has a great cast of characters, wonderful dialog interaction and a case of a gifted writer of erotica keeping the police in a quandary of finding ???him?? and the printer. Elise tells James on more than one occasion, ???You don??t know me at all, do you, James??? This story has explicit sex scenes, with both erotic and punishing spankings between a loving married couple. What goes on behind closed doors between two people in a consensual relationship should not be condemned or leave a partner feeling guilty.
