Summer, sun and spanking. What could be better?
In this collection of stories by Vicki Blue, three misbehaving women find things heating up rather quickly when their defiant behavior catches the attention of the dominant men eager to correct them.

From the stubborn young woman who finds the tables turned when she decides to teach her swim coach a lesson, to the pretty riding instructor begging to be tamed, to the naughty housewife who thinks unpacking the paddle will spare her a spanking on vacation, each woman learns the hard way that there are still men who believe in spanking.

The Lifeguard

?This is going to be epic!?

Rosemary Swanson guided her Mazda down a long row of cars, looking for a space – preferably one with a little time left on the meter.

?It won?t be epic if we don?t find a place to park pretty soon. Really, Rose, in the time we?ve spent looking for a space close to the beach we could have already walked there.? Sunny Miller tried to keep the exasperation out of her voice. Traffic had been terrible; it seemed like everyone in the state had chosen Crystal Beach as a destination. And Rose, ever the diva, had informed Sunny that she wasn?t parking ?out in the middle of nowhere.? So for the last half an hour they?d been burning up valuable gas and time looking for one of the prime spaces Sunny was pretty sure no reasonable beach-goer would be abandoning until late in the day.

Sunny was about to tell Rose to just stop so she could get out and walk when they saw the brake lights of a car just ahead.

?Told ya!? Rose chirped as the car began to back out of the space. Two crying children were visible in the back seat, indicating the reason behind the driver?s premature departure. The car had barely cleared the space when Rose zipped in, gleeful at not only finding a good space, but one that was paid up through the rest of the day.

Even so, it took them another twenty minutes to lug everything down to the beach. Sunny finally let herself relax, and the frustration she?d felt all morning with her friend began to dispel as she smoothed out her beach towel and sat down to apply her favorite tanning lotion. Her plan was to lie out until the heat became too much and to then go swimming in the ocean.

Sunny Radison was an accomplished swimmer; she?d been on her high school and college swim teams and her ability to slice through the water faster than her competitors had even earned her the partial scholarship that was helping pay for her education. It also helped keep her in great shape; Rose often commented that she envied her friend?s tone legs, arms and bottom.

?Lucky thing,? Rose would say.

?Yeah, it?s funny but the more I exercise the luckier I get,? Sunny would reply. That was when Rose usually rolled her eyes.

But today Rose?s eyes were fixed on something else. She nudged Sunny and pointed to the lifeguard stand.

?Hey, isn?t that Brett Wilder?? she asked.

Sunny looked up and scowled. ?Yes,? she said. ?I think we should move.?

?Move?? Rosemary gasped. ?Are you crazy? He?s gorgeous!?

She looked up at the stand, staring at Brett as if he were a god. And he did look like one to most women. Standing 6?2?, the lifeguard possessed the perfect male physique – muscular but not too muscular, broad chest, and a six-pack of abs leading to a narrow waist. His blonde hair was cropped short, unlike his fellow lifeguards who wore theirs in the shaggy layered cuts popular with surfers. With his close-cropped hair and sunglasses, Sunny thought he looked like a cop, which was fitting since he liked to tell people what to do.

?Gorgeous,? Rosemary repeated.

?Yes,? Sunny agreed. ?But also arrogant and disagreeable and bossy.?

?You just don?t like his coaching style,? Rosemary laughed.

Cowgirl Up

It wasn?t like she was expecting Claremont Stables to hire her on the spot, but even so Gigi DeVane had been hoping that she?d be treated respectfully. The stable manager – an uptight looking man in a crisp polo, white breeches and black tall boots – sat behind a desk in the office at the entrance to the main barn.

Gigi knew what he was thinking. This was a hunter barn, and she had cowgirl written all over her, despite a resume outlining a background with horses that she knew – knew – made her overqualified to serve as a counselor for Claremont?s hoity-toity summer camp.

She could see Malcolm Darby glancing from her resume to her and back again, as if trying to justify her experience as three-day eventer, instructor and associate trainer with a large barn in Maryland with the woman sitting across from him wearing a pink John Deere T-shirt, blue jeans and cowboy boots. Gigi had decided that if she was going to apply for a job – even a job she needed – she would apply as who she was and not some artificial version of herself.

She?d already ridden the glitzy route, having boarded at and worked for barns where everyone wore $600 helmets and rode $100,000 warmbloods. She?d hung with the best of them, and smirked down her nose at struggling riders who took their backyard ponies to schooling shows because they couldn?t afford the rated ones. But then her best friend Casey – a promising rider – had lost her father in a car accident. Everyone in the equestrian community that Casey and Gigi hung out with was very supportive, until some disturbing facts emerged about Casey?s father. He was deeply in debt and the ?accident? was no accident. It had been vehicular suicide, and that determination nullified the life insurance policy that he?d hoped would clear his debts. Casey was forced to drop out of the prestigious riding school she was attending and had to sell her horse. Her mother, grieved over her daughter?s despair, bought her a modest horse and budgeted enough money to board it at a local community stable. Now out of the elite circle of riders, Casey found herself shunned by her former friends. Except for Gigi.

The experience had soured her to the world of high dollar horses. Gigi had pulled her horse Wingman from the barn despite her parents? protests and moved him to the community barn where Casey?s new horse, Magnus, was boarded. The two of them began trail riding and hanging out with the group of young people who affectionately called themselves ?barn rats.? Some of them showed, but they were all amateurs who supported one another.

That had been a year ago, six months before Gigi?s family suffered their own upheaval. Her father lost his job, and the stress of the cut in income resulted in the quick dissolution of her parent?s marriage. Her father took up with a much younger woman and turned his back on Gigi and her mother. The days of living worry-free were at an end. Gigi decided she needed to get a job. She did not want to crawl back to the show barn where she?d worked and trained before, so when Claremont opened its facility and advertised for a camp counselor, she figured it wouldn?t hurt to apply. But she wanted them to know from the outset that even if she was working among them, she didn?t plan to be one of them.

The Vacation

?Is that the last of them?? Ned Becker pushed the small suitcase in with the others and stepped back to look at the jam-packed space in the Subaru station wagon.

?Just one more!? His wife came running around the side of the car, holding one more bag. It was small and pink, but bigger than any space he could find.

?Come on, Quinn!? he said, exasperated. ?We?re going away for the Memorial Day weekend, not for a month.?

?It?s my overnight bag!? she said defensively. ?It?s got my makeup in it. And it?s your fault that I?m taking so much. Your brother?s got that cookout, and then there?s that party at Sarah?s??

He sighed, and took the bag. It was a miracle that he was able to move another over to make a slot for it.

?No more,? he said. ?I mean it.? He slammed the boot of the car.

?Sorry, baby,? she said. ?But if I couldn?t have taken that bag then I would have had to have stayed here.?

?I don?t think so,? he said with a laugh. ?I?d have spanked your ass and put you in the car if you?d given me any lip, and you know it.?

Quinn giggled, because she did know it. And Ned?s joking about spanking was fine with her. Real spankings were something else, and he was very strict. When they?d agreed to a domestic discipline lifestyle, Quinn had known it was the best route for a happy marriage. She was stubborn, and behind her blonde curls and innocent face lurked the temper of a hellion. As an only, indulged child of two doting older parents, she?d always gotten her way. But it had been to her detriment. Quinn was, for lack of a better term, spoiled. And that had cost her in terms of friends and job opportunities.

?This is the real world, sweetie,? Ned had told her after they started dating. At the time she was a receptionist working for his catering company. But that was about to change. Quinn had caught his eye. An old-fashioned guy, Ned knew that she was the woman for him. He was eager to marry her and turn her into a sweet little housewife. But he wanted her to have some work experience first and told her that he planned to be harder on her than on any of his other employees.

She?d laughed off his warning until one day when she?d dragged into work half an hour late.

?I had to get my nails done!? she offered by way of excuse, and he could see some of his other workers shooting disapproving glances. He knew that they all thought she was getting preferential treatment, and she did nothing to dispel that notion despite his frequent warnings. Quinn came in late, talked on the phone when she was supposed to be working and left early without permission. But she did not know that Ned was keeping a tally, and one night after work when they were alone in his office, he did what he?d jokingly threatened to do for months. He spanked her.

Quinn had thought it was a joke at first, being tossed over her boss boyfriend?s knee. But soon her giggles turned to cries and then all-out sobs as he spanked her first over her panties and then pulled them down and rained unrelenting spanks on her upturned bottom. Her cheeks reddened rapidly, and Quinn cried like a baby but did not react in anger. She seemed genuinely sad that she?d disappointed Ned to the point that he would carry through on his threat, and after the spanking she sat in his lap sobbing and promised never to be late or duck work or leave early again. And she was true to her word, and was such a model employee that some of the other workers joked that Ned had replaced her with an exact replica.

After six months, Ned took Quinn out for dinner and proposed. She cried through her acceptance of the ring and his offer and instantly began planning their wedding. When it became evident that she would become Bridezilla, Ned quietly ordered a paddle from a custom implement company and debuted it one afternoon after he heard her yelling at the florist.

?Pink and white roses, you simpleton! Do I have to do everything??

He?d upended her in the living room, pulling up the frilly skirt she?d been wearing and giving her two swats with his hand before reaching in the side table drawer to surreptitiously remove the paddle. She screamed as it fell and looked back in surprise; Ned had always used his hand and this was something new and terrible.

?Stop! Don?t!? she cried when she saw the paddle, but he held her and gave her ten good, solid licks before letting her up.

Quinn was in tears. She stood before him sobbing.

For the most part, I thoroughly enjoyed these stories. The women earned their spankings and definitely got them. Quinn, however, got more than she deserved. Ned publically humiliated her. She did not humiliate Ned in any fashion and did not deserve to be demeaned. She did deserve her punishment but he not only exposed her but he laughed at her and made her the butt of the joke. It left a very bad taste in my mouth. Shame to end such a cute book so sourly.

I\\\’ve enjoyed reading the first two short stories in this anthology. The couples were very sweet and I would have loved to read more about them. The third and last book I didn\\\’t enjoy as much as I enjoyed them. I like to read stories with married couples who are into a domestic discipline relationship but in this case l disliked it although it was well written. Quinn acted badly and definitely deserved her spanking like the other two brats from the first stories, but I thought her husband didn\\\’t deal with her punishment as fairly and with such care and love as the other heroes. I\\\’m looking forward to seeing more summer themed books here.

Three stories under one cover, but it would have been better if any one of the stories had been extended to a full length. They are started or finished. You get a taste and are left hanging.
