Holly loves everything about Christmas, from Angels and Carols to Yule logs and zany gifts.

This year she is working as one of Santa’s Helpers at the mall, entertaining young children while waiting in line to have their picture taken with the big guy in the red suit.

Then suddenly, her world tilts right off its axis, as a real-life elf pops out of nowhere to punish her for using magic in public! Cane resents his current assignment into the mortal world to discipline the halfling. She must either return to Kringleton with him, or he will have no choice but to bind her powers – which is permanent and not to be taken lightly. However, the halfling doesn’t even seem to realize her elvish heritage! And worst of all, she is lovely beyond all compare.

He resents his attraction to her. Still, a job is a job and he wasn’t appointed headmaster for nothing. He will be thorough in her chastisement, and then he will be done with her! But neither Cane’s strict adherence to rules, nor Holly’s blitheful ignorance of them, can keep the two apart when fate has destined their future.

Of course, a bit of magic never hurts!

I liked the premise of a HALF Elf being left behind and not knowing her origins. I would be a little freaked out finding magic and Santa does exist. The story is cute. It could have been longer for my liking. Holly gets to see what life at the North Pole is like. The spankings were good. I enjoyed seeing the North Pole through Holly\\\’s eyes. It was delightful to see each of the shops and talk to and see the people of the North Pole. I felt like I was there. It had a happy ending which was nice.

A fun quick read for all those who would like to believe in Santa Claus and elves. The grumpy schoolmaster is just the right character to teach her a lesson and prepare her to live in the world of magic! Definitely a good holiday story.

The book is cleaverly written and has a story line more congruent to the dominate male finding himself in caring for his little half-elf. It is a breath of fresh air.

Holly feels different but has no idea why she never really felt like she fit in with the people around her. Turns out she really half elf. Santa doesn\\\’t know for sure what\\\’s going on with her so he sends Cane to find out and deal with the problem. This is one sweet Christmas story that actually brought a tear to my eye.

Cute story about a young woman who discovers finally why she has never fit in and its because she is half elf. Though she is in trouble for using her powers among the himans it is fun to see how reacts when she meets santa sees the north ploe for the first time.

I read this a while back on Bethany\\\’s Woodshed, and really didn\\\’t care for it. A holiday story with elves and Santa, which should be good, but I found it off-putting. While it\\\’s well-written, and has some good moments, the attitude towards discipline strikes me as odd, to say the least – it’s a weird juxtaposition of a happy North Pole village with harsh school rules. And the hero needs some major attitude adjustments (which seems to be the common view in Santa’s village, yet no one does anything about it, or says anything to him, and seems okay with his behavior as headmaster even as they don’t approve of him… huh?). A bit odd. I don’t really care for anything involving the spanking of children, and honestly, the more I think on it, the more disturbing this element was – the attitude towards the children made me really angry when I thought about it (they get punished for not doing well on tests, among other things). Disappointing.

Fairy tales just got delightfully adult. Guess even elves need some romance in their lives. I’m generally spooked by anything magic or wizadry & almost did not download this novella. But this story was a magical surprise with a delicious adult twist. Caused me no such problems credit to the writer. A must read for all those adults who love all things Christmas. If I say anymore I shall ruin the surprise in the plot.
