Coming Home to Wyoming

(22 customer reviews)

When former cavalry officer Griff Harper rescues an orphaned teenaged girl from a crabapple tree, he starts to feel responsible for her. That’s his first mistake. Then, he makes a few more mistakes—by taking her to her first restaurant, where she pockets the silverware, insults the waitress, and helps herself to the tip he leaves on the table. Next, he puts her up in a hotel where she eats the room receipts, and bails her out of jail after she bites the sheriff. Finally, he leaves her in the loving care of his dearest friends in the whole world—where she repays his kindness by stealing his horse.

At first, spanking a runaway orphan who’s already had a pretty hard life seems a bit unkind to Griff, but fortunately, he gets over that, and wallops the living daylights out of her—partly to teach her the error of her ways, and partly to let her know who’s actually in charge. Mostly, though, it’s because it feels damned good to blister the brat’s stubborn butt after everything she’s put him through.

Four years later, though, the rebellious brat turns up at Griff’s ranch—this time as a beautiful, educated young woman determined to complicate his life, again. Only this time, it’s his love life she’s out to complicate.

  1. Redrabbitt

I really enjoyed this western story and was laughing out loud so many times from the dialog and angst. The characters had an explosive chemistry that kept the pages turning. Eileen a’Roon O’Mallery, aka Elyn, is a spunky, foul-mouthed, runaway teenager. Griff Harper is a man searching for land and hopefully peace after several hard years. This story covers many years, the first half is their meeting and him finding her a safe home with friends he trust while he moves on, and the second half is four years later and their reunion. Time doesn’t stop the sparks and angst, she may be grown up and look like a lady now, but she is still catty. Two women both want Griff, his new lady friend, Amelia, who hates ranching and animals, and Elyn who has grown up but still can cause trouble.

Another great story from April Hill, Griffin meets Elyn hanging upside down in a crabapple tree, an auspicious start to begin with. She is sassy foul mouthed she tries to steal the cutlery at the restaurant and causes untold trouble when she assaults two deputies and bites the sheriff. You\’ve just got to love her, she ends up with several spankings all very well deserved!! Can\’t wait for more in this series

This was a sweet story that had me laughing out loud a few times. Elyn is full of sass and she made me smile quite often. Griff had his work cut out for him when he meets her and takes her under his wing. Fun read.

Griff, a very patient responsible man, has his life turned upside down when he rescues a teenage girl from a tree. The girl, who we later come to know as Elyn, follows her heart, but thinks little of consequences. Her antics are quite entertaining even as poor Griff has to deal with the aftermath. Eventually, he deposits her somewhere safe for her to grow up, but until then, the book is very funny. Fast forward four years and Griff is missing Elyn, although seeing a woman named Amelia. Of course, Elyn shows up and is jealous of Amelia. The end of the book seemed to fall a little short; I would have liked to see more development of the relationship between Griff and Elyn. Even so, this was a well-written book that kept me turning the pages and I read it in one sitting. I highly recommend it.

Amelia took one look at Griff from under eye brows while hanging upside down and decided he was hers. She’s only 16 and while her life up until the point of hunting up crap-apples to eat she was headed to San Fransisco. Griff did not think much of that eye’dier. So leaving her at his adopted families farm till she grew up he headed out once again to find his ranch. The first part of the book rocked and rolled with good clean humor. The second part lagged some, as Griff meet a lady named Amelia who had her heart set on Griff and getting him to move back east with her. This was not in his plans, he was a westerner and there he would stay. Besides Elyn as she was now called had arrived at his ranch to take up residence and get rid of the competition. I had to finish this book in one setting as to stop a just left character in my brain from pestering me to just get on with it already I give it a 5 x 5 ratting

I love the historical western genre of books. Eileen was absolutely hilarious. She begins running from a bad situation and just finds herself in one bad situation to the next. She constantly needs to be rescued by Griff. He seems to be the only one who has ever cared for her at all and for her it is love at first sight. I think Griff is a bit hung up on the age difference but he is finally brought around towards the end. I love that Eileen just doesn\’t give up and love wins out in the end.

Great Western story of a cowboy who finds a bratty, smart-aleck orphan and sets about trying to help her. Along the way, the adorable, foul mouthed girl charms him and acts up enough to deserve a few old fashioned spankings. He finally leaves her with a loving couple to raise her and goes off to find a ranch. When next he sees her she\’s grown into a lovely, sophisticated woman and you can guess what happens next. Really fun read and so glad its a series and there will be more!

Tough cowboy meets bratty teenager in need of a firm hand. Years pass and the bratty teenager is now a bratty young woman who is still in need of a firm hand. Griff lets Elyn earn herself a few good spankings before finally admitting he wants her for himself.

Griff is riding along and he sees a woman hanging upside down in a tree. When he cuts down the woman, he sees that she is actually a girl. She lets him know that her name is Clarinda Isabella Worthington. The first thing that Griff realizes is that Clarinda has a filthy mouth. She swears non-stop. But he feels obligated to help her and he takes her along with him to the next town. Clarinda gets into lots of trouble there. Griff has to bail her out of jail. He decides he is going to take her to his friends that are a Quaker couple to let them finish raising her. Clarinda is not sure that she wants to go to stay there, but she allows Griff to take her. A few years later they meet up again. Clarinda has grown up and is still in love with Griff. There are a lot of ins and outs of this relationship but there is an HEA. I give this 4 stars.

So, this was definitely a five star for me!! Great western historical, long enough to cover several years, excellent characters (most especially Eileen a \’Roon O\’Malley and Griff Harper), laugh out loud dialogue, and an absolute joy to read! This is pure April Hill! I read it through in one sitting, because I simply couldn\’t put it down. I am ecstatic at finding out that this will be a series!!!

This author never disappoints. Griff meets the teenaged girl and sets out to help her regardless of what she wants. When he leaves her in the care of a good family, she has already decided that Griff is the man for her. The remainder of this ‘laugh out loud moments’ story, involves the now adult girl convincing Griff that he belongs to her. I enjoyed this Western era story and look forward to the sequels.
