Isabella Drake has been promised in marriage to Lord Algernon Greenfield, and no objections she can muster will change her father’s mind. When Sir Kiernan Dunleavy arrives to escort her to her new husband, her defiance is given no more notice than that of a two year old child’s. But Isabella is made of sterner stuff than most women, and soon her defiance is out of hand. Sir Kiernan has no problem dealing with her in the time- honored way, but in spite of himself he begins to admire her fiery nature and regret that his task is to deliver her to a sour old man old enough to be her grandfather. But it is his duty, isn’t it?

Captain’s Duty is a historical romance, set in Restoration England

I loved the escape attempt! Ow, the fun of the chase and the thrill of the consequences when caught! I really thought it was going to be a big problem when the interest between the captain and Isabella developed. How was this going to resolve when Captain Kier was so loyal to his Lord. The problem was solved in a very nice way and added to the quality of the story. I also felt having an antagonist really kept the story full of suspense and action.
The downside of the story was that Lord Algernon wanted to woo Isabella and instead, Isabella woo\\\’d Algernon to get what she wanted. I am not a fan of the female pursuing the male. Also, Captain Kier was to help force Isabella\\\’s hand in wifely cooperation should Algernon failed in his wooing and I really would have liked to see that.

Nice romantic story. Not a lot of steamy sex scenes but it leaned more towards the implied.

This was a great story with a fiesty heroin who just didn\\\’t know when to stop. She sure did get herself into plenty of scrapes but the Captain knew just how to handle her and bouy did it work. Great romance story with lots of action and suspence.

This one is a keeper. Isabella was smart enough to know how the times were and she played them to the benefit of herself and the ordinary people. Kier was slow on the uptake, but he did figure out what a jewel he had. The story was made more important than the spankings which made it a much better read than usual.

Great heroine and hero and good story but the villians are too sadistic and evil for my tastes.

This was a great story. I would have given it 5 stars but I felt it lacked real romance. The heroine was strong and independent. The hero was a good character but there was very little romance between the two. There are lots of spankings and a good well developed plot so it is an enjoyable read.

This was a good story. Enjoyed the plot line. Thought a lot was left out, which would have enriched the plot, what happened to Niles? Would like more info., on the other characters in the book as well. There were quite a bit of typing mistakes and name changes. Who is Daisy? What happened with the snitch servant? Still a good story, worth the read.
