REMEMBER, I’M THE COWBOY WHO KEEPS HIS PROMISES

I enjoyed this fast paced, action packed, romantic suspense story with power, danger, and desire, which keeps the pages turning. There is an interesting cast of characters, along with mystery, suspense, murder, and revenge. Sometimes in life, a debt is to be repaid, and Hadi Nazar has called in his marker to Drake Steele. Words have it trouble is brewing, and his family is in danger, and he needs the Steeles to help protect them.

The Steele family run a safe house of sorts called the Black Stallion Ranch. It is similar to witness protection, but many of those they protect are part of the underground. The Nazar family has their share of dirty dealings, money laundering, and corruption. From the horse auction to the yacht, the bombs, and mass murder, Drake and Maddox must do what they can to protect the lone survivor, Adira Nazar, and bring her back to Texas without anyone knowing she is even alive.

The story will take many twists and turns with this covert operation. Maddox has never become involved with a client, but there is something about this exotic spitfire, Adira, that stirs his ire and his blood. They have many run-ins, that will land her over his knee. She keeps some secrets from him; that will come to light as their tête-à-tête plays out. “He had full control of her heart, her soul, and her body.” “Why did she like pain, to submit, and to be dominated?” “He taught her that to truly live was to embrace life to its fullest.” The chemistry and interaction between Maddox and Adira sizzle on the pages. The story is explicit in sex scenes.

The story ends with a glimpse of book two, Stryder that is due out February 2017.

An awesome romantic thriller

Bring on Book 2. And 3. And 4. With Maddox as the first book, the series will definitely be a success. I loved this book and am only sad I have to wait for the next book to be published, as I would rather binge read the entire series. That being said, I will definitely read this book again and again. It had all the elements of a perfect thriller. The first part of the book is set in Dubai, and the descriptions paint a beautiful picture of that exotic locale and the life led by the uber wealthy. Adira is a modern thinking Arab woman who has just completed her doctorate in psychology. Although she is not involved, her incredibly wealthy family launders money for criminals all over the world. When danger lurks, her grandfather calls in a favor from an old friend and his sons, who make it their business to protect innocents from the sins of their fathers. When tragedy strikes, Maddox and his father transport Adira back to their home base in Texas at the Black Stallion Ranch. But this is not just an ordinary ranch. It has secret tunnels and a locked room that turns out to be a dungeon. Unfortunately for Adira, her first view of that room is from over Maddox's shoulder as he prepares to show her the consequences of endangering herself. This book has the perfect amount of strict discipline, passionate love, and laugh out loud humor. Buy it, read it, love it. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Fun without thought

Call it 3.5 stars
This first book in a new trilogy is an enjoyable start. The characters are likeable and the romance and sex quite enjoyable. I had a couple of problems with the book, though. First, Adira, a supposedly observant Muslim woman (yeah, the rich in Dubai are different, but still), seems to have no problem being around all these unrelated men, with very little in the way of conservative dress, even by rich people's standards. There is no mention of her religion at all, and I think it would have been nice to have at least some acknowledgement of it. The second problem I have is that after they get Adira back to the ranch, everything that brings the bad guys to the ranch happens behind the scenes. There is no evidence of the work they are supposedly doing to get the bad guys. I do appreciate writers who "show" rather than "tell." Nevertheless, it was a fun read and I will read more.

Fast paced love story

I enjoyed this fast paced read. The Steele family runs a safe house, what you would think of a witness protection sort of thing. When an event (I dont want to take away from the suspense) happens they bring adira back with them to Texas, and from there a love story develops. This is a page turner, keeps you guessing what is going to happen and making you gasp as the suspense becomes nearly unbearable. Wonderful read, loved the development of the characters.
