It’s been a couple of months since I last read a Corbin’s Bend book, so it was really nice to revisit the spanking community. And as I’m a big fan of the Carmichael men, I thought it was really cool to get a Carmichael woman’s story. That Dean had Kelly share her dad’s and Uncle Brent’s physical characteristics of height was a nice twist because so often, female submissives are portrayed as being small and dainty. But at six-foot-tall, Kelly is neither dainty nor small. Even though Kelly didn’t spend much time with her father growing up, it’s obvious that certain Carmichael traits are genetic because Kelly clearly had some very dominant traits, enough that it gave her concerns as to whether or not she could be the Taken in Hand that RJ needed. *** Without rehashing the entire story, Kelly seizes a chance to accept a position at the Corbin’s Bend Medical Center so that she can be closer to her family, especially her father, Jack. Prior to moving, Kelly’s biggest hurdle was deciding where to live. She wasn’t sure that she wanted to live a Domestic Discipline lifestyle – which she saw as having to be obedient to her man’s arbitrary rules and being punished whenever he felt like she had broken one. But the daily commute to and from Denver was not particularly attractive either. Obviously she ends up moving to Corbin’s Bend and decides she’ll deal with the DD relationship issue should she ever meet a man who wants one. Wouldn’t you know it? She met such a man within 48 hours of moving to the spanking community. Once we see how weird of a work schedule RJ has, well it was practically Fate that they met. As RJ and Kelly begin to date and RJ convinces Kelly to give DD a chance, it quickly becomes obvious that RJ’s work schedule is actually a good thing for them because their time apart gives Kelly the space she needs to evaluate her feelings about DD and whether or not it’s what she wants for her future. *** With a title like Fire in the Rockies you have to expect that there will be some serious sparks flying in the book and Dean definitely delivers. Sexually speaking, there is a serious amount of heat between Kelly and RJ and this makes for some rather hot scenes. As for personalities, Kelly definitely inherited the Carmichael passion and this makes for some strong disagreements. I, for one, could not blame her for getting upset when RJ rebuked her for her driving, especially as she had received US Marshall driving techniques training. But it was the literal sparks that made them both realize how precious life was and forced them to examine where their relationship was going. I’m actually quite sad that this was the final Corbin’s Bend book because it not only means no more visits to the spanking community, but it also means that I won’t get to catch up with the residents and see how RJ and Kelly are doing, as well as my favorite guys, Jonathon and Benjamin. The gang will be greatly missed and Fire in the Rockies was a great way to end the series. *** I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. Kelly is Jack’s daughter and Brent’s niece. She originally moved to live near Jack so that they could get to know each other better, but then he moved to Corbin’s Bend. On a spur of the moment decision she applies to the hospital just outside Corbin’s Bend and when she finally decides to take the job she moves to Corbin’s Bend. Although Kelly is intrigued by spanking for pleasure she doesn’t know how she feels about spanking in discipline form. When she meets RJ who works as a park ranger and is away for several days at a time, they begin to date while they muddle through trying to work out if they are suitable for each other since RJ knows he wants a HOH relationship but Kelly isn’t sure about whether she is submissive or if she could accept spanking for discipline reasons. Kelly has quite a strong independent streak and is quite different to many of the other TiH we have met. I was left a little unsure about some of the things that affected their HoH relationship (eg her dangerous driving) but I still really enjoyed their story. I also loved catching up some of the pervious people in Corbin’s Bend. I received this as an ARC for an honest review.

Kelly has moved to Corbin's Bend for her new job and her to be close to her family. RJ had moved there to be close to work and because he is looking for a specific relationship. Along the way they fall in love. But both are strong people and each needs to make compromises on what they thought they might want. But together they are willing to forge the new path that fits them both.

I did enjoy this book and all of Corbin's Bend books! RJ and Kelly are the main characters. Kelly isn't as submissive as most that you read about but I did like that she did speak her mind on a lot of stuff! RJ does love her and tries to look out for her and her sassy mouth! I gave this book 5 stars! It had romance, hot sex, lots of spankings and a HEA!

I really enjoy the Corbin's Bend series but this one was hard to get into. RJ is a great personage of a HoH but Kelly isn't submissive enough for me. Her " do what I want" attitude towards some of RJ's rules is the exact opposite of what I envision the spanking community to be about.

Wahooo! Another Corbin's Bend story! It was so great to see leads from other stories in this one. The relationship between this pair almost seemed doomed from the start but Ms. Dean handled it well. I don't suppose you would consider offering these books on sale???? I was given an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

Good read. I thought the book was a nice addition to the series. I liked that the author was helping create an inclusive community in our minds with her choices of characteristics for her heroine such as height and more dominant tendencies. I did feel the story plot was a bit predictable, and would have preferred a bit of a twist. I also thought that the injuries sustained by both main characters were a little extreme, then quickly solved.

Another great story in the Corbin’s Bend series, with two people strong, independent people who have strong feelings for each other from the moment they meet, but they must work through some personal issues. Kelly Carmichael is a self-assured woman, she comes from a strong line of dominant alpha males and doesn’t feel she is submissive. RJ Butler has knows that for him to have a relationship, he must be the HoH and be with a submissive woman who follows his lead. It’s amazing what people learn about themselves, and what type of compromising can happen if you are truly in love. The plot of the story was realistic, with some power struggle, give and take, and learning what is the most important things in any relationship, trust, honesty, and respect. The dialog was heartwarming, open and honest. A great cast of characters and interaction. The story has some tense moments, but Kelly and RJ pull together and prove to each other that they are committed and willing to go the extra mile for each other.

I always enjoy a Corbin's Bend story & this was no exception. I found it interesting, given previous books I've read that the heroine would even qualify to live there, but it was interesting to read how she came to accept & embrace the DD lifestyle. I understand why others may have had issues with the heroine & while she isn't my favorite character, seemed to have less of an issue with her. I did like the interaction between the hero & the more dominant than usual heroine.

Another amazing Corbin bend story. Holla Dean is a author I never heard of before, but I was totally impressed. The story was well balanced. There was definitely fire between Kelly and the fire ranger. I was given this story for a honest review.

I grately enjoy the Corbin's Bend series. This book was a rough read for me though. Maybe it was because of the heroine. Maybe it was the focus of the story. I understand DD relationships. I don't need a story to explain DD to me. I think if the story as the focus and the DD was expressed, enacted more subtly and not openly explained through out the story I would have enjoyed it more.

I do love the Corbin's Bend series and have them all. This was a likable book and it was great to catch up on some of the leads from other stories. The Hero/Dominant was exactly what I would have wanted for the male lead. However the Heroine took some getting used to. From reading this whole series the "taken in hands" have all been strong women and men but respected the rules set by the HOH, but to me Kelly was more dominant. The writing was well done and the story did keep me in it's grip. Pick it up give, it a whirl. You will not be disappointed especially if you love Corbin's Bend. What a great place it would be to live and love.
