Overview
Amanda Chambers is determined to take a dislike to the Englishman who bought the ranch next door to her father's ranch, but she takes things a step too far when she strikes Robert Thorne across the cheek with her little riding whip.
Robert isn't about to put up with such nonsense, and he puts her over his knee and uses the riding whip on her posterior while she screams bloody murder.
The incident with Rob is the last straw with her father, Matt Chambers. Ever since Mandy came to live with him after her mother's death, Mandy had been uppity and turning everyone against her. He was out of patience, and it appeared that there was at least one man who wasn't afraid of his daughter's temper.
Robert was determined to tame the pretty little redhead, but he had to admit he didn't know when he had ever met such a stubborn, hotheaded female!

Mandy is truly a spoiled brat and Rob won't put up with her antics. When they find she is in danger from an enemy of Rob's she won't do as she is told to keep her safe. Rob spanks her but she is so stubborn she never learns. This was a really good story and I really liked all the people in this book.

Another winner for Joannie Kay!! A really good, well developed story that tells a great romantic, western tale. I absolutely loved the characters, all of them and couldn't wait to turn the next page! There really is something sexy about a cowboy who spanks!! Keep it up Joannie!

The story has a good length and is fluently to read, although the plot is little original and the male characters, like Helene's Uncle, Rob, Matt, are one side over-protective on other side are selfish. All in all, this story is enjoyable.

While I usually enjoy Joannie Kay's historical stories, this was not one of them. It felt as if she used the same plot lines from Hurricanes Tempest and Jake's Secret and inserted them into her new story. The cattle rustlers, evil man intent on having the heroine, and another evil man intent on killing the hero are all regurgitated here. In addition, both Rob and Amanda's father were unusually cruel in their punishments. Her father especially gave her a bruised, welted bottom even after she had apologized several times for her prank and actually was sick from it. I don't understand how his punishment was any less cruel than that she received from her kidnapper. They both also treated Amanda like a helpless, stupid child. Rob especially had quite the double standard, punishing her for not trusting him when he was the one to run off and not talk to her. He was so wrong to punish her when she went to confront him - I was so hoping she wouldn't go back to him because frankly, he didn't deserve her. Very disappointed in this one.
