Overview
Nineteen-year-old Emma Bell has always wanted to travel the world before settling down, and as a result she has spurned every suitor her father has presented. He is desperate to find a suitable match for his beloved daughter - one who will treat her well, but who is well-off enough to afford the upkeep of the family estate in the English countryside.
In exasperation, he decides to take her with him on a trip to America in hopes of satisfying her desire to travel and finding her a good husband at the same time. All seems to be going perfectly after they meet Percival Woodhampton and the rich young American becomes interested in Emma.
Unfortunately, Emma's father passes away before her wedding, and Percival soon shows himself to be anything but a gentleman. After a desperate escape from his home, she sets out on a train to see the American West as she has dreamed of doing for years. After her train is robbed by outlaws, however, Emma eventually finds her way into the care of the firm handed Bob Booker, the sheriff of Great Bend, Kansas.
Although neither of them expects it initially, their relationship grows with time until the sheriff is much more than just a strict guardian for Emma. Will they both admit their feelings for one another in time, or will Bob's firm hand and Emma's willful nature split them apart.
Publisher's Note: The Lady and The Sheriff contains non-consensual spankings of an adult woman, including domestic discipline in a historical setting. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.

This book was okay. The story needed to be developed even more, I think. Another issue I had with it was the language. Some of it didn't seem very historically accurate.

Emma's life goes from never having been spanked to being spanked by almost every man in her life. Her father, her new fiance, an outlaw and finally Bob, the sheriff. She is a brat and will not listen to anyone even with regard to her safety. Liked most of the characters but there always has to be a villian. Enjoyed this book a lot.

I was really disappointed in this book. Although generally I liked the story line I just felt Emma was way to whiny & overly spoiled considering she was pretty much spanked by every male character in the book. I also thought the writing tended to be very repetitive during conversations. Like they were talking to a small child. I wish I could say better.

Emma Bells father despairs of her ever marrying. She wants to travel. Emma travels to America with her father and ends up engaged to a rich American gentleman, or so she thinks. Emmas father pasts and she finds herself on her own and on a train western bound escaping her finance. Emma meets, the upstanding Sheriff of Great Bend Bob, he does not believe in harming women, but he does believe in old fashioned discipline. This was a very sweet read. More about the journey of the couple learning to trust each other. Ben just wanted to keep the sweet Emma safe, even though she had a tendency to want to just do her!

This is a wonderful historical western story with a spoiled young woman learning the hard most times right from wrong. There is definitly some action, romance and yes lots of well deserved spankings to go around.

Liked the way the characters were developed . She did deserve her spankings and I thought the sheriff was well versed in them. Did like the end.

I liked this story. I found myself holding my breath in the beginning when Emma couldn't decide what kind of person Percy was. I couldn't figure out whether the author was going to make him a good guy or a bad guy. The determining scene surprised me at it's intensity. I was again surprised by Bill and the relationship that grew between him and Emma. Emma finally makes it to her destination but she has a long way to go in the learning and maturity department. Sheriff Bob Booker takes her under his wing, or hand, as it may be, to teach her right from wrong. They are well on their way to happily every after when Percy shows up with a few more tricks up his sleeve

If it were possible to give this book zero stars, I would. I kept trying to find some character development but there was none. No real plot to speak of. There was no Alpha male -no protagonist, no conflict and no resolution. It was horrible. At the end, during the only contrived sex scene, I alamost laughed out loud at how ludacris the setting was.

I liked this story. She was a very spoiled person at least in the beginning, but I liked how she developed in the story.

This book was not what I expected. The characters were underdeveloped, the plot silly and contrived. Emma was extremely spoiled and annoying. She never stopped crying or whining. I was barely able to finish reading it was so painful.
