I truly enjoyed this novel. It reminded me of the romances that I used to read long ago, although with much better writing and delicious spanking scenes! I'm always captured by how deeply I lose myself in Renee Rose's writing. I find myself living within the story; feeling, seeing, & breathing each scene right along with her characters. They become real and very much alive to me. I just want to savor her books much like fine wine or decadent chocolate! They have a tendency to stay with me awhile. This book will be no exception.

I really enjoyed this book. The female character had just the right amount of spirit mixed with pure femininity. I loved how she confronted him about showing more love to his children. The Colonel was a strong, alpha male- very appealing.

I just knew it! That our leading lady would cross paths with the Colonel again... I love that she was given a second chance, and that the Colonel was so thoughtful in giving her a treat by way of a carriage to see her family... it was so sweet and touching!

This was a cute employer/employee falling in love romance. Amanda gets drunk after a carriage accident and she tells a man she doesn't know about the lies she told to get a job. The man she blabbed to turns out to be the employer that she hasn't met. He could fire her for her lies, but sees something beautiful in her. It is a cute story where both the Colonel and Amanda discover things about themselves and each other as they grow up a bit. The Colonel becomes more fatherly and not as much giving orders, and Amanda learns honesty and love and that there are good people out there. It was a second chance for both of them. The spankings were well deserved and brought them closer. A keeper. It is a historical peace that is well written and delightful.

I absolutely loved this book. I haven’t read a regency novel in ages, this was so much better with the spankings in all the places the ones I’ve read should have had them. I would love to read a sequel to this book.

Pleasing The Colonel draws you in from the very first scene. A scary accident, strangers trying to survive, and secrets told all lead to a well developed interesting story with a delightful ending.

A young lady of quality is forced to take the possition of governess to help support her family after her father dies. She has lied about her past experience to get the job and inadvertantly admits it to the Colonel, who is her charges father. The story was enjoyable enough, but not as exciting nor as in depth on character developement and family relationships as some other authors I have read in the spanking genre. However, I would deffinately read her next story to see her growth as an author!

Pleasing the Colonel was a well-written and heartwarming regency novella that grabbed me from the first chapter. Actually, after I read the first chapter available online, I immediately went to Amazon to download the book and keep reading. I enjoy regency romances, so I was excited to read one with spankings. I loved it and I hope Renee Rose plans to write more books set in this time period. Amanda and Charles have great chemistry. I admire how Amanda strives to overcome the obstacles in life after her father dies, and I thought it was touching each time Charles helped her – like by making it easier for her to visit her sick mother and securing her belongings from her uncle. These little things meant the world to Amanda and showed that despite how indifferent he could seem, Charles was a man of good character. The relationship that slowly develops between them is beautiful, though at times rocky, and she does end up over his knee (or bent over his desk) a few times throughout the novel. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good spanking romance, especially fans of historical fiction. Well done!

I enjoyed this book. I liked Amada's character. She had confidence in her convictions and was not afraid to call the colonel to task for not meeting her expectations, especially with the children. Colonel Charles Watson has no less confidence in himself and his convictions. Unfortunately, for Mandy, his convictions tell him to spank a woman who is not behaving. This is a nice gentle story about their lives and the path they take to love.

A well-written book and carefully polished. Some of the writing was a little slow to get through and the story was a little predictable, but it was well-done. The realism of the spanking scenes was especially nice.

Amanda lied to get her job as governess to hsi children and through an accident the Colonel finds out. Rather than dismiss her he punishes her. She loves his children and will do almost anything to stay with them. This was a good story and it was interesting watching them fall in love.

Mice quick read. Very straight laced historical romance. I loved how they fall in love with no actual sex before marriage and the punishments are all well written and deserved. He even holds her after each one! very sweet and loving story of two lonely people who find each other and find a way to make things work.

Another 5 star review for Renee Rose. This book was incredibly well done and I got so wrapped up in the tale that I could not put it down. I love the foreshadowing in the beginning when Mandy has too much to drink and you take a breath and say, 'if he's a Colonel'. Sure enough you find out quickly that she is the new governess of his home. Your heart hurts along with hers when she hears how devastated he has been without his wife and the overwhelming need he has to protect her just speaks volume for his character. I even liked his feisty sister who he turns over his desk for some intense spankings especially when she redeems herself at the end. Mandy is a very likeable character and you can honestly see why the children fall in love with her, it makes perfect sense that the gruff Colonel follows suit. She takes charge in several scenes and though it usually ends with her bottom up in the air, you have to smile for sticking up for what is right. This story had a very nice flow and to me was sweeter than Renee's other books. It just makes you smile. That being said the discipline was very believable and the tension between the two main characters kept it exciting. Hands down, 5 stars.

This is a very good historical romance with just enough domestic disipline in it to make it a really fun read. The characters are good and upstanding and the story really shows the how their romance slowly but surly blooms over time with a great ending.

I got this book because I really liked the sample chapter and wanted to read the rest of the story. It was really lovely. I liked the character and relationship development between the Colonel and Amanda. I especially liked that the Colonel righted some wrongs done to Amanda by his sister, and this was before he started having romantic feelings for her. He is a good guy all around.

A wonderful historical tale of love meets Murphy's Law. The Colonel emerges as a true hero as his rough edges are knocked off and smoothed out by the charming Amanda. She really helps him and he knows he needs her assistance.

This is a very well-written romance in which the author really took the time to develop the relationship between the hero and heroine in an authentic and believable way. The hero is a soldier and a man's man who expects his family and employees to be honest and respect his authority. The hero and the governess heroine behave as properly befitting their roles of employer and employee, thus moving from physical attraction to admiration to falling in love the old fashioned way. The hero does use a strap, ruler, and crop to punish his sister and his female employees, but it's never excited him. The heroine does find it a bit arousing to be struck upon her bottom while being punished for lying to her employer, but it is a new discovery for her. As the hero's feelings grow sronger, he feels remorse at having to physically punish the governess a second time when she is reluctant to be completely honest with him about another member of his household. It is then that he realizes his governess is slightly aroused by her punishment and he, in turn, finds his own body responding; yet, he is determined not to cross the line with her despite his own body's response.
This is not a BDSM read, nor is it erotica -- it is a romance culminating in marriage and features no pre-marital sex. For those who are uncertain about the spanking theme, please note that it's not gratuitious in nature; it is more like the kind of discipline many of us received when our dad popped us a few times with the belt for fighting with siblings, or when your grandmother switched you for misbehaving. The hero, in the end, does utilize a few pops on his new spouse's bottom as foreplay, but it is administered with affection and as a distraction for her wedding night jitters. I truly thought this romance was tastefully done, especially for the Regency setting, and it wasn't one of those overly passionate and lusty reads where you would envision the relationship burning itself out in just a few years. This was a romance based on love, affection, honesty, and respect.

A sensual domestic discipline historical romance.
When Amanda Downy father died and her and mother and sister were forced out on the streets to look for work and a place to live Amanda fudged her resume to get a job as a governess for a widowed Colonel who was away at war. Amanda who has come to care for the children has no problem standing up to him and telling him he needs to make some changes.
