Great interview with one of my favorite authors here. And really can't wait for the Straits Academy novel - I thought that was a hugely intriguing short story in the Decade of Discipline anthology, and am hugely awaiting its full-length expansion.

Thank you so much! Alice Liddell is an excellent writer. We know you'll enjoy the book, especially if you love Victorian discipline. Blushing carries more titles by Alice Liddell, as well as a wonderful selection of authentic Victorian erotica!

Comment on Rick Santorum’s War On You by Blushing Books

There's an old joke about defining porn that goes something like this. "If it turns me on, it's erotic. If it turns you on, it's pornographic."
I think the thing that scares people about Santorum is that he is so extremely and disturbingly fundamentalist, that what you and I might find erotic may be considered erotic by the standards he would implement. Yes, he's talking now about enforcing regulations he says aren't enforced, but look how he and his ilk are incrementally whittling away women's reproductive rights. He will do the same thing to porn by defining it in narrower and narrower terms and restricting it more and more until even things we find erotic but he finds pornographic will be removed from the public eye.
You're right that there is no cut-and-dried to some of these issues. We could sit here and debate abortion or birth control funding, for instance, and probably not move closer to agreement at the end of the day.
But pardon the pun, erotica or porn or whatever you call it is something everyone can get behind. The majority of people who enjoy porn and/or erotica are turned off by the kinds of extreme things that Santorum seems eager to taint the entire industry. And numbers don't lie; there are just as many conservatives enjoying porn and erotica as any other demographic. Santorum is pandering to a very small, very narrow-minded and likely sexually-repressed group of Puritanical people. I don't think that's a winning strategy.

I am a "right winged" conservative and overall, generally agree with the platform of like minded right winged politicians. However, I do not think there is anything wrong with porn as long as what is offered is completely consensual. I do not really think what is offered here at Blushing Books as porn. Mostly, they are just nice stories. I enjoy them, but I also want to be able to roam the internet whenever I want and look at pictures, etc. at will. They need to be regulated to a certain degree. I do not want to see children abused or taken advantage of. I do not agree with sex slaves or white slavery or whatever you want to call it. There is a place for regulation. The lines needs to be drawn. As for birth control/abortion services. I believe abortion is wrong. As a Catholic I believe birth control is a personal decision. Yes, I do realize that is not the catholic churches stance. I don't care. But the bottom line is, I do not see any reason for the general public to pay for birth control or abortions. If you want birth control, buy it. If you want an abortion, pay for it (it is, after all still legal). If you cant afford to pay for it (when I was a college student, I could not afford birth control) go to Planned Parenthood. It is either free or on a sliding scale. I think my diaphragm was around $10.00! If you can afford cigarettes or a couple of Starbucks drinks a month, you can suck it up and pay for birth control. Everything is not cut and dry. But any politician who thinks they are going to take away my rights be it the right to buy "porn" or the right to not pay for abortions is going to be under a fine microscope in my eyes. Please make educated decisions and look at all sides of the issues before you vote. I think the current administration is taking us down the wrong road. We are in a much worse place financially then we were 4 years ago. Another 4 years of this? Don't know how we will manage that. But they are not all bad. The key is to look at the good with the bad and try to make an educated decision based on what you believe is right and what you think is best for your family and your country.

Loki is an awesome writer, I think I was hooked on the very first story of hers that I read. she has something that you just can't put your finger on that keeps you coming back for me, it is that unpredictability that draws you and keeps you a forever loyal fan. Her wicked sense of humor of course is the whip creme and cherry on top lol I love it!

If she would just get a big dog lol or at lease put a big dog in her F/F stories lol

Hi Nancy, thanks for the tip about the title. From what I've seen of the sample chapter, the description in the interview here fits to that book. The only problem is that it's published under Ellen Joyce, not Carolyn Faulkner. Is that another pseudonym she's writing under? The interview only mentions Abbie Collier.
